Casa Ricotta
Welcome to Casa Ricotta
Living in the countryside must be an immersive experience in the greenerywhere all the senses are stimulated: the sight of growing green fields, the smell of scents; the taste of flavours; the sound of silence; the touch of the fruits of the earth.
Those who host passingguests in their lands must be able to convey the joy and serenity a green holiday disposes to.
Mr. And Mrs. Petrocelli, Fernando and Rocca, have a working life story to tell, which starting right in the fields returns to them. They will talk about their parents’ agricultural origins, about the social and cultural improvement which made them the protagonists of the italian know-how around the world…

AREA’S ATTRACTIONS
Places of interest
Nature, culture, food and wine
When you will be tired of the beach, it will be extremely pleasant to experience the history of mankind in Matera, UNESCO World Heritage Site and European Capital of Culture in 2019, the history of Magna Graecia with Metaponto, Taranto, Policoro, the mountain nature in the parks of Pollino and Gallipoli Cognato, “flying like angels” amongst the Dolomiti Lucane, and so much more offered by the wonderful southern Italy.
In May and June, nature is enriched by the presence of resident birds (some barn owls have built a nest at Casa Ricotta), while September and October are the best months for the warm temperature of the sea and the passage of migratory birds going to Africa.
The stables, a golf course, some tennis courts, a go-kart track and a water park are located just a few kilometers away.

APOLLO LICIO ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK:
The archaeological park is located two kilometers away from the national archaeological Museum of Metaponto, where a number of local finds are preserved, nearby the Jonica highway 106.

THE ANGEL’S FLIGHT – DOLOMITI LUCANE:
Unique in Italy, the Angel’s Flight makes the dream of flying come true. And for those who love to share everything, including breathtaking emotions, since last year it has been possible to fly with your partner! Facedown suspended, secured with a steele cable which connects the peaks of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa, already well known as “Italy’s most beautiful villages” in the Dolomiti Lucane, it is possible to experience the thrill of speed, flying along a 1500 meter way, suspended at 400 meters in height above a stunning landscape. Every flight lasts about one minute and a half, and reaches a maximum speed of 120 Km/h.

TAVOLE PALATINE: “TEMPLE OF HERA”::
It is also possible to visit the archaeological Park and Areas of the Tavole Palatine - symbol of Metaponto with fifteen doric columns which represent what remains of the temple dedicated to Hera – and of Crucinia’s necropolis.

MATERA, EUROPEAN CITY OF CULTURE IN 2019::
The Sassi of Matera (Stones of Matera), UNESCO World Heritage Site, are not just a monument but represent a way of life and a development model which lasted thousands of years. These stones, in the rugged murgic territory, constitute a real rocky urban settlement unique in the world.

THE SEAFRONT OF METAPONTO:
It is an amazing wide golden beach overlooking the Ionion sea, equipped with several beach resorts and rich in free areas as well.

Bernalda:
The name of Bernalda is by now related to the Italian-American film director Francis Ford Coppola, whose grandparents were originally from this town nearby Matera, that he still visits regularly. In the heart of the Ionian coast, just a few steps away from the golden beaches and the marvelous archaeological area and museum of Metaponto, Bernalda is a must-see to include in the roadmap of those who decide to take a trip to Basilicata, especially in summer.
